Intro text

Now I'm not into simple stuff, I love complexity! What started out as "I want a panel to fit into my dining room window", now has become a full blown hobby. In particular, I love Tiffany lamps… I love the art deco era and Louis Comfort Tiffany has produced some amazing work which survives to this day, in particular, their lamp shades and panels.

Project - 18" Magnolia Lampshade - Introduction and Glass Selection

Tiffany is known for his lush magnolia panels and shades.  The actual Tiffany reproduction that Odyssey makes is a huge 28" in diameter and it's dramatic!  When done correctly, it's a sight to behold.

Now, I don't have the place to put a 28" lampshade, but Carol Conti did produce a pattern for an 18" mold that Odyssey does manufacture.  As far as I can tell, the pattern is of the same vein as the Tiffany reproduction.  Oh fun!

Here is an example of Scott Rigg's version of the 28" magnolia, it's fairly true to the Tiffany original.

Here is an essay that I found on Sothesby.  Take a look, the magnolias are lush and breathtaking!

I'm inspired to use some of my drapery glass for this project, here are some pics of the glass that I have!
